Hunt Report 1-11-10
Lots of great hunts since the opener. Varing COLD weather.. It froze hard, warmed up and moved the birds around. Now it is getting colder again.
Ducks :Our ponds are open. The ponds rested during the Christmas break. Had a great shoot today! Lots of ducks(like too many) in the area and refuges = food and resting to keep 'em here. Seems it is feast or famine. A few weeks the ducks were fickle nad thin....but we have had consistent limits recently. Very few spots open for ducks the remainder of the season, however. The forecast is for consistent cold, which will bring some consistent success as they feed on our fields and rest in our ponds.
Goose: Consistent success for almost all groups. Goose harvest has been about 85 to 95+% for groups, but then they had their opportunities too. Mixed bags of greaters and lessors. The guides just love sharing the exciting hunts.
A couple weeks ago, we had a contest with some our DropZones against some Big Foots. DZ's showed their worth!! Ask the guides when you hunt. It is just plain exciting as the bird birds come in for a landing.

1.      Most of the private properties are owned which enable Burbank to manage the crops. Some are also leased from fellow farmers which have key fields known for waterfowl.
         We shoot limits from the beginning of the season to the end. Why? Because of the right crops for feed, not over-pressuring the fields and moving to where the birds are every day. Also, we book fewer customers at the beginning of the season, and as the migration builds up we book more hunters. We balance the number of birds with the number of hunters.
         Paul meticulously oversees all details and starts preparing for each season at the end of the previous season.
         Paul understands the critical nature of having the right place (habitat), the proper bird management techniques which are adaptable to needs of the day, and having experience and professional guides to provide a safe and successful outing.

2.      Paul Sullivan continually works on improving the habitat, hunting blinds, decoys (designed his own), testing different hunting techniques to ensure Burbank's success all season long. Experience comfortable shooting with in ground pits (typical for geese) and portable above ground blinds (Maximus) which are typical for Ducks. Our decoys are under the constant eye of the guides to maintain them in top condition.
          Of course the New state of art DropZones™ and Full Curls™ Decoys, are especially deadly...they are the most realistic decoys found anywhere. These decoys are made by, by Aero Outdoors
3.      All of Burbank's guides have years of hunting and guiding experience. They go through an extensive training program, after they have been qualified as an outstanding hunter, quality caller and good with customers of all ages. Safety is important.
        Guides are familiar with all types of hunters, from annual group hunts, to entire families or corporate entertaining.   They are all expert callers (know when to call and when not to call) and nothing pleases them more than seeing our return customers every year.
        Guides love to share their passion, and see customers leave with harvested birds and smiles. Go ahead and make their day - ask questions and learn and share the trills only the fresh outdoors and waterfowl have to offer.
